May flowers ....
May has arrived and with it plenty of sunshine and a burst of colourful flora and fauna!  This month finds Manor Place a little quieter with many of our snowbirds having departed for the north to spend the summer months.

Our past fall and winter seasons have been busy and active with many activities and social events offered and enjoyed by you, our wonderful MP residents!  Our social committee organized and hosted the Welcome Back Picnic at the Gazebo last October, the Christmas Party at the Country Club, in January 'Gazebo at the Lodge' featured a speaker from Metro Crime, February's Valentine’s Gala included a delicious dinner and lively dancing, the Manor Place golf outing was organized for February, 'Julia's' annual tea was held at the Lodge in March, and the April finale, Cowboys and Indians spring picnic, rounded up the social season.  Other events included the delightful golf cart parade; Betty Kaczenski opened her doors in November offering fresh coffee and donuts, and collected resident's donations of food and grocery items for the benefit of the St. Vincent de Paul food bank; Dina MacDonald hosted the chili party following the golf cart parade at Christmas.  And, we cannot forget the ladies luncheons organized by Betty Karella and Patty O'Riordan held at various restaurants during the winter months.

Enjoy your summer.  Rest, relax and recharge ... we will see you all in October!

Summer Longing

Published: June 2016
Not just the sun,
It's the memories.
The fun,
The love,
The leaves that sway in the warm August breeze.

It's not just the places.
It's the journey
With smiling faces.

And as I look up at this cloudy sky,
I wish for the freedom,
And the city lights rushing by.

It's not just summer,
It's the memories that last.
It's the friends,
The laughs,
The campfires...
And vivid pasts.
